UBTC mentoring is patterned in principle after New Testament discipling, a process of training through personal relationships while active in ministry.  A mentor's own strength, resources of study and experience, and friendship are made available to a men-tee through personal interaction to deepen godly living and increase fruitful ministry.  Both are blessed by the interaction.

UBTC mentors can be pastors or staff ministers and mature laypersons with effective ministries who are designated by the pastor.  They will disciple the ministering laypersons in their congregation who are taking UBTC classes.

Instructions to the STUDENT & MENTOR:

NOTE: Students will now be accountable to Berean School of the Bible for fulfilling the UBTC mentoring requirement. Submitting the UBTC MENTORING EVALUATION FORM will take the place of the "Student Learning Requirement" Report (formerly "PIO"). Credit for passing the final exam will be granted ONLY if/when the UBTC mentoring evaluation form is received by BSB, indicating that the mentoring assignment was fulfilled. (Mentors must be approved by the UBTC Director – or by the student's pastor.)

  1. The student has the primary responsibility to schedule the required two hours of mentoring each month. Mentors must also be diligent to make time to "disciple" students – for students' sake and for the sake of their ministry in the church. Mentoring times should be scheduled well in advance. It is also helpful, however, to take unplanned, impromptu opportunities for conversation between student and mentor. These informal times can be counted as part of the two hours per month requirement.
  2. Issues that should be discussed (but not limited to) are the student's:
    1. Personal walk (devotions/prayer time, family relationships, co-worker relationships, etc.)
    2. Ministry (vision, plans, expectations, etc)
    3. UBTC classes (benefits, struggles, questions, etc.)
  3. Mentoring assignment (discipling, family life, cross-cultural relationships)* 3. At the end of each course, the student and mentor should complete this report and review it together. BOTH   must sign his/her portion. The STUDENT is to turn it in when taking the final exam.
